Jewish Institutions Face Another Wave of Bomb Threats

These latest bomb threats affected some 15 institutions in Massachusetts, Illinois, Wisconsin, Maryland, Oregon, Florida, Alabama, and NY, and two Canadian Jewish Community Centers, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a nonprofit news organization.

Even as de Blasio and Police Commissioner Jimmy O'Neill met with community leaders at the Manor Road JCC on Tuesday morning, more threats were made to the Anti-Defamation League in Manhattan and other Jewish centers nationwide.

Neil Corrigan says a major intersection was shut down while police investigated the threat and a school was locked down.

He said the latest incidents were the sixth wave this year, amounting to 140 bomb threats; each seemed different.

They appeared side-by-side at a news conference to discuss the meeting as news broke of threats made to the ADL. An anonymous caller to the East Midwood Jewish Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday threatened to spray its synagogue with pig's blood, according to the New York Police Department. Back on February 27th, the center was also evacuated over a bomb threat forcing dozens of children and staff out of the school. "Just the last two weeks are more trouble than anything I've seen in many, many years".

An office building in Atlanta was one of four bomb threats across the country targeting Jewish groups.

Pakistan to reopen Pak-Afghan border for two days
Pakistan on Monday summoned a senior Afghan diplomat and lodged a protest over a cross-border attack that killed five Pakistani soldiers.

Const. Matthew Dawson told AM980 the centre received a bomb threat from an "unknown person" and evacuated roughly 120 people from the community centre, daycare and adjacent apartments. "According to some reports, there have been over 100 bomb threats phoned into Jewish institutions since the start of this year alone".

The JCC Association of North America said several Jewish community centers got email or phone threats overnight and early Tuesday.

"The two JCC cases are still open", he said, adding that the department is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to catch those responsible.

Cuomo urged the state police to work with federal and local law enforcement agencies to track down those responsible for the threats.

On Feb. 20, over 200 headstones were found turned over in the Chesed Shel Emeth Jewish Cemetery near St. Louis in what authorities determined to be an act of vandalism.

At least three Jewish organizations in MA were targeted with threats today in the sixth nationwide wave of bomb threats this year, officials confirmed.
