Michael Flynn Received $70000 In Payments From Russian Companies In 2015

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was paid more than $30,000 from a state-run Russian TV network for a Moscow talk, according to documents.

"I didn't take any money from Russia", Flynn told Yahoo News in July. But he had not disclosed the amount and said he was paid by his speakers' bureau.

After his speaker's bureau, Leading Authorities, took its 25 per cent take, Flynn got $33,750, for an event celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the outlet.

In addition, Flynn received two $11,250 payments, one from the USA subsidiary of a Russian cybersecurity firm and another from Volga-Dnepr Airlines, a Russian carrier that runs charter flights.

He also received a similar amount from a cybersecurity company in Russian Federation that was looking to expand its business with the USA government, the newspaper reported. This was one of three occasions in which Flynn, then a former Defense Intelligence Agency Director, had a speaking engagement in Russian Federation. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any investigation into Russian election meddling after it was revealed that he offered misleading testimony about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, and Flynn was sacked when it was revealed that the FBI had captured his conversations with Kislyak.

Last week, Flynn retroactively registered as a foreign agent in connection with his work on behalf of company whose Turkish founder has close ties to Turkey's government.

Flynn began advising Trump on foreign policy matters in early 2016, according to published reports.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released a statement saying he wants the Defense Department to recover those payments.

Everton chief Farhad Moshiri 'not worried' about Romelu Lukaku's contract snub
Ronald Koeman remains confident Premier League leading goalscorer, Romelu Lukaku, will stay and sign a new deal at Everton . Thus, having not ever netted for the Blues, Lukaku will have something to prove if he goes back to Stamford Bridge.

Cummings also said that Flynn had violated the Constitution's emoluments clause against government officials, including retired military officers, from accepting foreign gifts.

In December 2015, Flynn was flown out to Russian Federation to speak at a gala hosted by news outlet RT, which has been accused of being media arm of the Kremlin.

In his letter, Cummings requested further investigation into Flynn's payments, which he had not previously disclosed.

Depending on the type of work that Flynn did for the two Russian firms - which the letter does not make clear - it may not be subject to disclosure to the Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

"I can not recall any time in our nation's history when the President selected as his National Security Advisor someone who violated the Constitution by accepting tens of thousands of dollars from an agent of a global adversary that attacked our democracy", Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, wrote in the letter to the Trump administration.

After the election Trump named him White House national security advisor - only to have to ask for his resignation weeks later amid a storm over his calls with the Russian ambassador.

This is not the first time Flynn has conducted business associated with foreign governments. After Flynn was appointed, his attorneys then notified the White House counsel's office that a filing was imminent.
