Microsoft Blocks Windows 7, 8 Updates On Latest Intel And AMD Systems

No such luck for Windows Vista users. For some people, it was the worst operating system Microsoft ever released.

If Microsoft is blocking Win7 or 8.1 patches on Kaby Lake or Ryzen processors, will running through WSUS Offline Update - which downloads and installs patches independently of Windows Update - bypass the block? Windows 8.1 won't hit its end of life until next year, Vole is switching off its support early for new chips.

Critics were particularly unhappy with the high system requirements of the new OS, along with the inclusion of new DRM technologies to restrict copying of protected material.

"The official word from Microsoft is that they are in fact doing everybody a justice by insuring that everybody updates to Windows 10 because Windows 10 works very close to the silicon and squeezes out all of the performance", Berg says in his video.

Data from Net Marketshare reveals that as many as 48.41% of PC's on the web are still running Windows 7.

Windows Vista, which was launched in 2007, had the majority of its support stopped in 2012. That could happen if you created a user account while using Windows 10 build 15031. "We don't plan to send large updates over metered connections, but could use this for critical fixes if needed in the future", Microsoft said. Others such as Apple have long since ceased developing their software (i.e iTunes) for the aging platform.

The PS3 is nearing its end as Japanese production stops
The PS3 launched in November 2006, and now that it's 2017, you could say the PlayStation 3 has held on longer than expected. However, it has been revealed that Sony PlayStation 3 is still going to be available on the market.

One of Microsoft's worst-performing desktop operating systems, Windows Vista, is getting its final farewell on April 11, 2017.

This means that users of Windows Vista after this date may face the risk of their computer becoming more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. For its part, it's logical for Microsoft to expect that users who'll own PCs with extremely updated hardware won't even dare touch older versions of Windows, because such a move could be seen as ultimately backward.

Windows 7 is to receive security updates until January 14, 2020, while Windows 8.1's support is to end on January 10, 2023.

But for many Vista users running a now stable operating system on a decent PC, their choice is not as clear cut.
