'Power Rangers' Actor Pleads Guilty To Murder With A Sword

Ricardo Medina Jr is facing a term of six years in prison when his sentence is commuted in two weeks time, prosecutor's told the publication.

Medina admitted killing his roommate with a "Conan the barbarian" style sword after an argument over Medina's girlfriend on January 31, 2015.

Prosecutors in LA said Medina stabbed the man "multiple times" and had claimed at the time it had been in self-defence.

The now-38-year-old actor, who had pleaded not guilty to Sutter's murder at his arraignment in October, filed a guilty plea in Lancaster, Los Angeles, on Thursday, KTLA5 reported.

The altercation between Medina and Josh Sutter, his roommate at the time, occurred on January 31, 2015.

Medina first claimed that he killed his roommate in self-defense.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department, arrested and booked Medina for murder that same day, but he was soon released after the trial hearing because the case was rejected by the DA.

Meanwhile, the latest iteration of the long-running franchise, director Dean Israelite's Power Rangers, hits theaters March 24 via Lionsgate.

Medina also confirmed allegations that he used a sword in the slaying. "Josh don't have that in his heart to attack anybody", he said.

Medina played the Red Lion Wild Force Power Ranger.

Ricardo later appeared in the Power Rangers Samurai series from 2011 - 2012, and voiced the character of Deker. Other credits include small roles in ER and CSI: Miami. He was originally charged with first-degree murder, which carries 26 years to life in prison.
