UNLV law school moves up in US News rankings

UVa's School of Law remained in the top 10, keeping its No. 8 ranking.

"We are pleased that our reputation as a top engineering research university has resulted in our moving up in the overall U.S. News and World Report rankings", said David McLean, dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. Up six spots from last year, this is the fifth year the School has gained in the national rankings, and the highest ranking achieved to date.

In this year's graduate program rankings, the Graduate School of Education and Human Development's programs rose seven places, tying at No. 38.

Texas A&M joins other Texas law schools in the top 100.

Cornell University slips in just behind the two on both MBA and law school dominance.

Harvard University was ranked first, followed by Stanford University and, in a three-way tie for third, UCLA, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Some programs are ranked annually by U.S. News and others on varying year-to-year cycles.

Melissa Woodward, a graduate student in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, said she chose the higher and postsecondary education program because she knew she wanted an immersive experience and saw the rankings improving every year.

As the top ranking was announced a year ago, Kathleen Matt, dean of the College of Health Sciences, said, "This recognition by U.S. News and World Report confirms what our students, alumni, faculty and staff and patients have known for some time". The UW was also noteworthy for its biomedical/bioengineering program (ranked 10th) and its computer science program (9th).

The Law School fell to No. 106 with an overall score of 37, tied with Catholic University of America and Drake University.

Among business-school specialty programs, Seattle University's accounting program ranked 14th, and its executive MBA program ranked 12th.

The school made an impressive debut in the environmental engineering rankings, placing No. 70 in the nation in that discipline. Rankings for the 198 schools that provided the data were calculated based on a weighted average of 10 measures of quality, including peer and recruiter assessments, student selectivity, faculty resources and research activity.

Carey School, we're elevating the future of business". The rankings of law, medical and business schools are especially influential. Located in Waco, Baylor welcomes students from all 50 states and more than 80 countries to study a broad range of degrees among its 12 nationally recognized academic divisions.
