One person is dead and two others were wounded in what police described as a dispute between an ex-employee and managers at a gym in Coral Gables. He said no one was being sought in connection with the shooting.

"Initially we thought it was an active shooter. but there was a Coral Gables police officer at the mall at the time who was able to quickly determine it was a targeted shooting", Zabaleta said.

According to Local 10 News, the gunman died and two people were injured.

SWAT units were stationed around the mall as shoppers ran to safety and recorded video.

Miami-Dade County police confirmed the shooting involved a disgruntled former employee of the gym, and that one of the victims was in a managerial position there.

Officials have reported that the scene has been secured.

"So that's exactly what we did", said Tim Hartog, the restaurant's general manager.

The shooter, who killed himself after firing on two others, was identified by witnesses as Abeku Wilson, a fitness trainer at the Coral Gables gym where he carried out the shooting.

"That's when I saw people running as fast as they could out a service exit to a back alley".
