Dana White Doubles Down On Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather Fight Optimism

White then switched tones to aim a dig at Mayweather's team that have claimed there will be a 80-20 split between their fighter and McGregor.

"Conor is having a baby, any day now", White said.

"Conor is having a baby any day now and after Conor has his baby, Conor and I are going to meet in NY. and then we'll go from.no, we're not close".

The enigmatic Irishman is now courting a lucrative boxing match against Floyd Mayweater - widely regarded as one of the greatest living boxers- which would undoubtedly be one of the highest-grossing sports events of all-time.

A date in September has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for the showdown between McGregor and Mayweather, but White cautioned that nothing is set in stone right now.

"It's not close", White said. I see this fight happening.

"Yeah, I think there's a better chance of it happening than me quarterbacking. Floyd has no problem signing the contract, it's up to Conor". And I've said many times, Conor's done a lot. He's stepped up in big fights for this company, and for me, for Lorenzo.

White's comments on the Chris Mannix Show yesterday certainly revealed his new-found enthusiasm at the prospect of a potential Mayweather-McGregor boxing match.

The UFC star is expected to face the undefeated Mayweather in a clash that many believe will break all box office records.

Dana White sat down with the media Saturday night to answer questions about UFC 210 which had just concluded.

'What I would like to clarify is all the bulls*** about the 80-20 split (between the UFC and McGregor),' White said.

"The longer it takes for us to come to an agreement, I think the longer it's going to take to negotiate with the Mayweather team", White explained.

"I'm over the drama and I'm ready to get my s**t back". And Bob Arum? You piece of sh** - fu** you too.

"What do they know about this fight?"

And the Nevada Athletic Commission's recent announcement that they have no issue sanctioning a fight between the two men appears to point toward the cross-code fight edging ever closer. This fight here, Floyd doesn't make this kind of money either without Conor so Conor is just as important as Floyd when it comes to this fight.

As far as his UFC run goes, the lightweight champion hasn't fought since defeating Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC Lightweight Title at UFC 205.
