'Deadpool 2:' Josh Brolin Cast as Cable

Josh Brolin as Thanos in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Representatives for the actor said that Brolin has been set to play the part of Cable in 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2 opposite lead Ryan Reynolds. There were a few contenders with Stranger Things' David Harbour in the list and the role nearly being nabbed by Michael Shannon. Other actors that had been mentioned included Michael Shannon and Brad Pitt, both of whom had some "leaked" concept art released.

According to THR, the Hail Caesar star is signed on for a 4-picture deal, which will likely include an X-Force movie and possibly a solo spinoff.

He already plays Thanos throughout the MCU, and will be the center of the action finally in Avengers: Infinity War.

We'll bring you more on Deadpool 2 as we learn it.

Ryan Reynolds will obviously be reprising his role as Deadpool, with Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) taking the role of Domino. Production is projected to start in June in Vancouver, with David Leitch ("John Wick") at the helm.

The first Deadpool, based on the foul-mouthed Marvel anti-hero of the same name, made more than $780 million on a $58-million budget to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.
