Delta says 150 more flights canceled as storm effects linger

The airline canceled more than 3,000 flights this week as powerful thunderstorms moved across Georgia and other states in the Southeast.

Delta flights into Missoula, Bozeman, and Billings were delayed Sunday as part of an operations nightmare that the airline is only just coming out of after five days.

Delta Air Lines is still struggling to recover after severe weather caused the airline to cancel thousands of flights, leaving passengers- including many spring break and holiday travelers- stranded.

"We now have 3 cancellations on the books for (Monday) and expect a relatively normal operational day", Thomas said. Delta uses Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as its main hub.

Delta advised travellers to check its website and mobile app because more flights may be cancelled.

"While we can't control the weather, we understand the resulting recovery has not been ideal and we apologize for that", Gil West, the firm's chief operating officer, said in the note to customers.

Flight-tracking service FlightAware.com showed 120 canceled flights on Sunday and about 280 delays, as scheduling problems continued after storms Wednesday around the carrier's Atlanta hub and Thursday in the Northeast.
