Jackson says that a trade might be best for Carmelo, Knicks

The New York Knicks went to the playoffs in three of four seasons before the arrival of Phil Jackson.

The Knicks have won just one playoff series since Anthony came into the National Basketball Association in 2003, a first-round victory in 2013. Now, with another rebuild on the horizon, Porzingis unhappy and the championship horizon farther away than ever, maybe the one who has to go is Jackson.

"I think the direction with our team is that he would be better off somewhere else", Jackson said.

"This guy plays 34 minutes a game", Jackson said. They haven't been back to the postseason since, so Anthony knows his route to a ring might be elsewhere.

First off, a fact check: The Knicks have been able to win with Carmelo Anthony! "You just communicate with me", Anthony said after playing in what might have been his final game after 6 1/2 seasons in NY. Yet Jackson has his sights set on Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony. Of course, that happened while he was away tending to health issues and left others in charge. Jackson would like to see him play in the post more often. While a head coach has frequent communication with their players, this may not be the case with a president.

Coach Jeff Hornacek couldn't have liked what he heard Friday with Jackson suggesting he might need to micromanage more next year.

So Jackson will continue on for the next 24 months, trying to apply his antiquated philosophies while openly alienating his current players and coaches and then blaming them for not agreeing with his way of doing things. But Jackson can't, because Anthony has a no-trade clause.

"If I have to do that in different forms and places, I'll do that", he said.

Anthony, 32, and Jackson were at odds throughout the season because of trade speculation.

"Holding the ball is not a criticism".

The news comes after just hours after Phil Jackson conceded it is in the team's best interests to move Carmelo Anthony. The kicker is that Jackson also gave Anthony a no-trade clause, which makes it more hard to unload his massive contract. The unicorn continued to improve on last year's breakout season but his future as the Knicks' franchise player looks to be in jeopardy. "You lose in the first round, it didn't work out, and you think, 'We gotta change some people on our team.' So there maybe some quick outs that may change some people's minds as to what they're going to do".
